Here are some new words to ponder:
- Squelch: to suppress something. I think the word is interesting in how it sounds when it's said aloud. To me it honestly sounds like you are squashing a bug under your shoe or thwacking a spider with a newspaper. Say it outloud and see what you think.
- Poltroon: cowardly or a coward. You know how some words will convey their message just by saying it? This is NOT one of those words. You say "poltroon" and I'd say "bless you?"
- Oaf: a clumsy or dull person. We all know this one. But I think "oaf" is just plain fun to both read and say.
That's about it for now, my captive audience. Next up: perhaps a Blog after my upcoming mini-vaca with my favorite niece and sis!!
Stay tuned for the next word entry: I'm thinking of writing about some of the words I've made up over time and describe their definitions and origins!
...I know you are all now on pins and needles! >:)
